Chicago Cubs Spring Training - 3B Rick Bell Hits Grand Slam

The Cubs won big over the Diamondbacks April 23, 2005, 11-6. Four of the teams RBI's came from 3B Rick Bell with a Grand Slam.

For those of you who haven't heard of Rick Bell and this Homer now makes you curious. I'm pretty sure He is the Grandson of Outfielder Gus Bell who played in the 50's. Gus had a lifetime OPS of .775 while the league OPS was .753. He played most of his career with the Reds, but started the majors with the Pirates and finished his career with the Braves. Most of you will know his dad, Thirdbasemen Buddy Bell who played from 1972 to 1989. Lifetime OPS of .747 while the league OPS was .717.

What is OPS? It is On base Average plus Slugging Average.

So, it looks like Rick has the blood line to be a Major Leaguer. The problem Rick is going to have is Aramis Ramirez.
