Ernie Banks Hit His First Home Run

On this day in Baseball History, Ernie Banks hit his first major league homerun off Gerry Staley of the St. Louis Cardinals as the Cubs lose to their rivals 11-6.

Ernie Banks ended up with 512 homeruns and was the all-time Cubs leader until Sammy Sosa broke that record. Banks always wanted to play two, Sammy ended up wanting to leave at two.
