Chicago Cubs Lastest News Feed
According to ESPN1000 the Cubs have acquired Juan Pierre for Mitre, Nolasco, and Pinto. I'm assuming this is to fill our leadoff position. Juan is a base stealing and has a lifetime batting average of .305. Last year was his best year as he batted .276. Almost everyone's batting average was done last year. [Could it have something to do with the steroid testing?] He has a lifetime on base percentage of .355 with the league average during his career is .341 and for center fielders it is .336. He stole 57 bases last year. The last time the Cubs had some steal 57 bases was Frank Chance in 1906 and before that Fred Pfeffer swiped 57 bases in 1887! Eric Young and Ryne Sandberg both stole 54 bases in 2000 and 1985 respectively.
Let's see if this trade is real. He has a lifetime fielding pct. of .989 and would fill our problem with Centerfield.
